Russell L. Oldham is the Vice President of Claims for Galen Insurance Company. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in 1961.
Russell’s entire career has been in the field of casualty insurance. He was actively involved in medical malpractice defense of doctors and hospitals throughout the “Insurance Crisis” of 1975, 1986 and 2005. His experience in medical malpractice defense has been continuous since 1972 in the state of Missouri.
He has set up claim offices in St. Louis, Kansas City, Jefferson City, Springfield and Cape Girardeau and handled claims in all counties of Missouri, as well as lawsuits filed in Illinois and Kansas. He directs and supervises all lawsuits assigned to attorneys specializing in medical malpractice defense. These attorneys are selected based on their experience and expertise in certain areas of medicine and their reputation in the legal community where they reside and practice.
He is involved in creating mutual understanding and trust between our doctors and the assigned attorneys and works closely with both groups. All defense preparations are a joint effort with the input and approval of our insured doctors.
Throughout his career, Russell has worked for the following medical malpractice insurance companies:
- Hartford Insurance Group—Claims Manager 1965-1980
- MoMedico—Vice President of Claims 1988-2000
- Missouri Physicians Associates—Senior Vice President of Claims 2000-2006
